Looking forward to yet another New Year amidst so many unknowns and we start to wonder: can we achieve our dreams in 2021? I'd like to say: YES WE CAN!
Whether it is our goal is to start something new, change something in our lives or take a leap of faith, we can still face obstacles no matter how strongly we want to fulfill our personal quest.
Being told we can't has been programmed in us from the moment we took our first step. Have you ever encountered someone who said: "you can't do that"? In rebuttal, we must forge on.
Love can stop us from pursuing our personal quest. The fear that we will have to sacrifice the love of our family, friends and spouses to put our full energy to fulfilling our quest is real. Think rationally though; wouldn't our loved ones want us to succeed in pursuing our dreams?
Fear of Defeat is another obstacle in fulfilling our personal quest. The path of the personal calling is no easier than any other path, except that our whole heart is in the journey. So get up, and face this fear and let it fuel your drive.
Finally, the fear of realizing your dream can be an obstacle. Not convinced? Well, how many times have you been on the cusp of fulfilling a goal, a project or mission and you did something to self-sabotage yourself? Do you not think you deserve the success you have worked so hard to achieve?
I re-read the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and it was one of the best things I ever did in 2020. It made me aware that Hope is a powerful thing. It inspires us to do the impossible and helps us carry on during difficult times. So if your path of your personal calling is fraught with these four obstacles, know that hope can pull you through: "...we warriors of light must be prepared to have patience in difficult times and to know that the Universe is conspiring in our favour, even though we may not understand how" (Coelho, 2002).
Like what you've read? Sharing the love and this blog post so that we can achieve our goal of bringing our life's work to the world.
Gratefully yours, Jaime Lee and James Lightle.
